We are updating our resources ahead of the start of the COVID Spring Booster delivery programme on 13th April. Ardens resources include:

  • Invitation searches (available now) to support patient identification and call/recall

  • New Adult Vaccination template (in development), which will bring all adult vaccination delivery together in one place, including COVID and RSV. It will also include resources to support updated vaccination consent processes

🔎 Check Patient (NEW)

The Check Patient feature in Ardens Manager enables users to understand why a patient is included or excluded from a report. This is particularly valuable when validating and closing-off any end-of-year LCS, QOF and other contractual claims, where accurate inclusion directly impacts achievement and payments. Previously, this required manually reviewing report rules and comparing them against the patient record in the clinical system, which could be time-consuming and difficult.

Check Patient provides a faster, more transparent way to review this information by analysing an individual patient against the report logic. It allows users to quickly validate data, investigate discrepancies, identify missing or incorrect coding, and ensure patients meet the required criteria, giving confidence when finalising reports and submitting claims.

How to access the Check Patient feature:

  1. Login to Ardens Manager →  Click 'View' next to a report → Navigate to Patients tab → Click the Check Patient (?) icon on any patient
    or

  2. Below the patient list → Enter an NHS number to check a patient who may not appear in the report

🧬 HIV Resources

The government’s HIV Action Plan aims to end new HIV transmissions in England by 2030. Ardens new and updated HIV resources support this by identifying patients for whom BHIVA and NICE recommend HIV testing. Promoting routine HIV testing helps reduce stigma, prevent late diagnosis, and enable earlier treatment, ultimately reducing transmission rates. Ardens resources include:

  • Reports: Identify patients who should be offered an HIV test

  • Alerts: Highlight patients with HIV indicator conditions

  • HIV Testing + Prophylaxis Template: Supports identification of testing indications, structured testing conversations, and provides guidance on PrEP and PEP

  • HIV Template: Supports ongoing management following diagnosis, including:

    - Guidance on maintaining health with HIV (immunisations, cervical screening, statin consideration for patients aged 40+)
    - A review page for holistic care, including cardiovascular and osteoporosis risk assessments
    - An Advanced Disease page with structured support for advance care planning and identification of AIDS-defining conditions

🦠 Meningitis Resources

Following the recent outbreak in Kent, we are developing a meningitis template and formulary in EMIS to support consistent assessment, coding, and management of suspected cases. We will share an update on the Ardens EMIS Facebook group as soon as the EMIS template and formulary are available.

Please note the SystmOne template and formulary are already available and can be used to support clinical decision-making and ensure appropriate coding and prescribing.
