COVID Vaccination Protocol
Following recent changes to the vaccination recording process within EMIS Web, Ardens will not be providing a COVID-19 vaccination protocol for EMIS practices this year.
The changes introduced by Enlivio require additional mandatory information to be captured during the vaccination process. As a result, the protocol approach previously used is no longer a practical or reliable method for recording COVID vaccinations. During our review, we concluded that providing a protocol could increase complexity and introduce unnecessary risks when recording vaccinations.
For further information on the changes introduced by Enlivio, please refer to:

What should EMIS practices use instead?
Ardens has updated the Adult Vaccination and Childhood Vaccination templates to support the new recording requirements.
We recommend:
Using the Ardens Vaccination Launcher to access vaccination templates quickly during clinics.
Recording vaccinations using the vaccination templates, which have been designed to support the required data capture.
To speed up data entry during clinics, copy the vaccine batch number and expiry date using your Windows button + V (copies to a clipboard), then paste them directly into the relevant fields.
This approach provides the safest and most sustainable method for recording vaccinations within EMIS Web under the new requirements.
Flu & COVID Vaccination Resources
As we are unable to provide a supported COVID vaccination protocol for EMIS Web, we are also unable to provide a combined Flu + COVID protocol this season.
Instead, we recommend practices use:
The Ardens Seasonal Influenza Protocol or vaccination templates for recording and administering flu vaccinations (View Seasonal Influenza support article).
The vaccination templates for recording COVID vaccinations in line with the updated EMIS requirements.
The Ardens Vaccination Launcher to quickly access vaccination templates during clinics.
Further Support
We appreciate this represents a change from previous years. The decision has been taken following the changes introduced within EMIS Web and is intended to ensure practices are using the most appropriate and supported method of recording vaccinations.
