Core Feature

Patient View

ℹ️ Introduction

This article explains how to use the Patient View feature in Ardens Manager to review detailed information about an individual patient from within a report. By the end of this article, you will understand how to access Patient View, navigate the available information, and identify where a patient appears across reports and dashboards.

Background

When analysing population health data, it is often necessary to review the individual patients behind the numbers. Without patient-level visibility, it can be difficult for practices to identify outstanding actions, review recent clinical activity, or prioritise patient follow-up.

In Ardens Manager, patient lists within reports allow users to open Patient View, which provides a summary of key patient information and shows where a patient appears across reports and dashboards. This enables teams to better understand patient risk, identify outstanding work, and support proactive patient management.

How Ardens Can Help

The Patient View feature provides a comprehensive overview of all reports linked to an individual patient, eliminating the need to open multiple reports across the platform.

It brings together safety alerts, registers, and outstanding actions in one place, supporting a more efficient and holistic approach to patient reviews.

📍Access Patient View

  • Login to Ardens Manager

  • Navigate to the required dashboard and locate a report

  • Click View to open the Single Report page

  • Select the PATIENTS tab to display the list of patients included in that report

  • Locate the patient within the list

  • Click View next to their NHS number

⚠️Please note: Patient View is only available when viewing practice-level data, as it requires access to patient-level information.

🧭Navigate Patient View

Patient View opens with default settings, which can be customised at any time to suit your preferences.

  1. Patient Details: Displayed at the top of the screen, including key information such as NHS number, date of birth, gender, risk scores, and alerts.

  2. Category Filters: Allows you to refine the information shown for each patient. The default Overview option displays all reports associated with the patient across dashboards. You can filter by specific dashboard categories, such as Services or Contracts, to display only relevant reports.

  3. Quick filters: Control how reports are displayed. By default, reports appear in a collapsed view grouped by type and status. You can adjust how the grouped view is displayed, expand all rows, or customise which columns are visible.

  4. Accessing the Patient Record: Open the patient's record directly in your clinical system (EMIS or SystmOne).

  5. Search and Filter Options: Use the search icon to locate specific reports within Patient View. The filter icon allows you to refine the display based on your preferences.

  6. Outstanding Work: Use the quick filter icons to view outstanding work grouped by performance indicators, safety alerts, or case finders.

  7. Column Sorting and Filtering: Each column can be sorted or filtered using the filter or ellipsis icon, providing additional display and configuration options.

⚙️Customise Patient View

Patient View can be customised to suit your preferred way of reviewing information. By default, reports are displayed in a grouped format.

To change the display format:

  • If you prefer to view reports as a single table, remove the pre-set filters by selecting X

  • Adjust groupings by selecting the grouping icon and choosing your preferred categories

To filter or adjust column settings:

  • Select the column filter icon to choose which report types are displayed

  • Resize columns by clicking and dragging the column header dividers

Further customisation is available through the ellipsis menu, where you can:

  • Sort data

  • Pin columns to the right-hand side of the screen

  • Auto-size columns to fit your display

  • Choose which columns are visible

  • Reset columns to their default settings

📊Understanding Report Status

Patient View provides a clear overview of all reports associated with a patient, helping you quickly identify completed work, outstanding actions, and register inclusion.

Each report is grouped into one of the following status categories:

  • To Do: Indicates that the patient has outstanding work on an indicator that requires action.

  • Done: Shows that the patient has met the requirements for an indicator, and no further action is needed.

  • N/A: Indicates the patient appears on a report, such as a register, but no action is required. This simply highlights that the patient is included in that report.
